Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. At the age of five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and attended her first Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor at age six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing, dancing and acting. The actress had performed in a variety of Stagecoach as well as school plays when she was 10 years old. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first appearance in a film was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The movie set records for opening day and weekend revenues, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The critics were impressed by the movie and its performances. The highly distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in the Feature Film. The actress was nominated five times for her performance in the movie.
